What does KAUR mean?

“Kaur - embracing your inner power”

Kaur (sounds like Core)

Kaur is the divine adornment of humanity. It finds expression in your qualities of your capacity to love, your spirituality, radiance, sensitivity, creativity, charm, vulnerability, graciousness, gentleness, dignity and ferociousness.

Kaur is a name that originates from the Sikh tradition it was given as a force of strength to be attached as a surname for those choosing a conscious path of service to others. The need for the name came from an age-old culture of oppression, where men and women across the land of India were treated without dignity or equality. To raise these beings from the ashes the 10th Sikh Spiritual Master, Guru Gobind Singh began the rebellion by empower females with the name Kaur (its literal meaning is ‘of royalty’ or ‘princess’) and males with the name Singh (meaning ‘fearless’ or ‘lion’). We choose to continue the rebellion to create a better, more inclusive and just world for us all.

Kaur is gender neutral, embodying such vast strength and power to pay homage to the beautiful vulnerability that exists within all humans, we together will empower the Core Voice that exists within each of us. Sometimes hidden away in the shadows or locked away in a secret box with no key, we all share that vulnerability and need to set ourselves free. We no longer need to be held in the cage of fear, shame, guilt, pain or whatever name you may give it, we can use these dark clouds as forces to empower us. So we ask you to embrace your Kaur Voice and join us in this movement to break the silence as we lift each other out of the darkness and step into a free world.
